Miguel Pereira

Miguel Pereira studied at the National Conservatory Dance School and the Higher School of Dance, in Lisbon. He received a scholarship in Paris (Théâtre Contemporain de la Danse), in New York, from the Ministry of Culture, and in Amsterdam. As an interpreter he worked, among others, with Filipa Francisco, Francisco Camacho and Vera Mantero. As creator, he highlights the pieces António Miguel, with which he received the José Ribeiro da Fonte Revelation Award from the Ministry of Culture and a honorable mention from the Acarte/Maria Madalena Azeredo Perdigão award (2000), Notes for an Invisible Show (2001), Data/Local (2002), Corpo de Baile (2005), Karima meets Lisbon meets Miguel meets Cairo, a collaboration with Egyptian choreographer Karima Mansour (2006), Doo (2008), Antonio e Miguel, a new collaboration with Antonio Tagliarini (2010), Op. 49 (2012), WILDE (2013) a collaboration with Mala Voadora, Repertório para Cadeiras, Figurinos e Figurantes (2015) for Ballet Contemporâneo do Norte, Peça para Negócio and Peça Feliz (2017) ), It was a lonely chest full of promises (2019) and Falsos Amigos (2021) in collaboration with Guillem Mont de Palol; and the film/documentary It Was a Single Breast Full of Promises, based on the 2019 play. His work has been presented throughout Europe, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile, and he is a guest professor in different national and international structures. He has been an associated artist of O Rumo do Fumo since 2000.
