Animals
In regenerative agriculture, as in traditional practices, animals are a fundamental component in the management of the system. Domesticated animals allow access to direct goods from your farm (eggs, meat, wool, etc.) while also being able to be used for weed control and soil fertilization. But, in addition to these, there are all the animals that are part of the ecosystem and that contribute to its balance. From the insects that pollinate, to the birds and amphibians that eat these insects, to the earthworms that aerate the soil, there are countless animals that we can discover and that we are recording here.
Bee
Plant pollination is 90% done by insects and, in turn, 80% is the responsibility of bees. Furthermore, bee pollination is essential for them to produce honey.
Bee-eater
This bird is a seasonal presence in Portuguese territory, with its colors filling the sky in spring. There has been control of the Asian hornet in areas populated by bee-eaters.
Ladybug
This insect is a great ally in the vegetable garden as it is extremely important in the biological control of pests, as both larvae and adults are voracious predators of aphids.
