ESTÉTICA [Aesthetics)

Agrarian and Artistic Transformation involves engaging aesthetically with the world. Aesthetic attention, when focused on the process, leads to a slowdown that restores our ability to be truly present. Wonder and contemplation can then resurface, allowing us to savor the complexity and unpredictability of the World.

C

COMUNIDADE [COMMUNITY]

Agrarian and Artistic Transformation involves activating community ties capable of creating a relational coexistence based on affection, sharing and the “duty that binds us”, in which the well-being of each person depends on the well-being of others. The CEENTAA project proposes the creation of a temporary community voluntarily given over to the practice of wandering (errância).

E

ÉTICA [ETHICS]

Agrarian and Artistic Transformation demands ethics: “becoming worthy of what happens to us” (Deleuze). But the world gives us signs that we are not. “We say this, we do that: what mode of existence does this imply?” The practice of this reflection, which links words to actions, opens up the possibility of a powerful body, capable of taking life into its own hands – a body that rediscovers itself as a node in the network that connects all beings, human and otherwise.

N

Natureza [Nature]

Agrarian and Artistic Transformation implies abandoning the illusions created by scientific and technological progress about the ability of our species to control what we have called Nature. For, despite all this progress, we continue to be animals that breathe, eat, reproduce and need shelter – as it happens, we are part of Nature. It is Nature that, by generating abundance, meets our needs; in Nature, everything is interconnected, generating life.

TrANsformação Agrária
[Agrarian Transformation]

While industrial agriculture focuses on maximizing profit, proposing the privatization of the commons and the production of synthetic food (GMO/NTG) in extensive monocultures controlled by pesticides, agriculture close to nature produces food by mimicking natural processes and protecting the commons, belonging of everyone. Its basis is the complexity, and balance, of the relationships between all beings and the fertility of the soil, as a living organism, capable of generating abundance. Therefore, CEEENTAA proposes replacing the first with the second and experimenting new ways of being and doing, which integrate all dimensions of Life and the connection between all beings.

TRANsformação Artística
[artistic transformation]

Art is a dimension of human life that has been underestimated but, given its transformative potential, it must constitute one of the bases for the change that urgently needs to happen. “The images of art do not provide weapons for combat, but rather contribute to designing new configurations of the visible, the sayable and the thinkable and, in this way, a new landscape of the possible” (Rancière). This power of art has been nullified by elitization and commodification, without artists and thinkers having found ways to stop it. CEENTAA proposes contact with agroforestry as a way of summoning this transformative power of art.
